Statement by
Cllr Peter Mason,
Leader of
Ealing Council

A man in glasses standing in front of a building.

“Ealing might be known as the Queen of the Suburbs, but there is so much more to our history and our economy beyond the W5 postcode.

We are seven towns, each with a sense of purpose, identity, and pride. Seven places with history, culture and opportunity for the communities that make them special.

We are London’s breadbasket, with some of the biggest food producers at Park Royal. We are the home of loud, where Marshall built his first amp. We are cinema’s best kept secret, with the oldest and the biggest number of studios and production suppliers. And we are the capital of British Asian culture and retail in the jewel of the crown that is Southall.

So much of what makes London a great city also creates some of its biggest challenges, so in Ealing we are forging that new path, by focussing our efforts and our investments in bringing good, well-paid jobs back, and bringing wealth and resilience to every part of the borough.

We are looking for investors who share our values on good growth and community-led regeneration. We need support from public and private sector partners to help us deliver 4,000 genuinely affordable homes and 10,000 new good jobs by 2026, whilst also tackling the climate crisis by investing in active travel and green infrastructure, and fighting inequality by finding new ways to deliver community and open spaces.

In a post-pandemic world, so many more Londoners are embracing the chance to live a healthier, more balanced life in which they can work, socialise, exercise and enjoy life closer to home. The revival of our local shopping parades, the growth of our office corridor, and the productivity in our industries is making that happen.

Contact us today if you want to become part of our story.”

Ealing Council’s Plan
and three priorities

The council is here to serve local residents and we will put that at the heart of everything we do. We will partner with stakeholders and investors who share that vision and our values.

We have three top priorities for the borough which are:

Creating good jobs

Rebuilding our economy, returning good well-paid jobs to our borough and delivering the next generation of genuinely affordable homes.

Tackling the climate crisis

Greening our borough, cleaning our air and ensuring the borough we build is sustainable.

Fighting
inequality

Relentlessly tackling poverty and inequality that blights too many lives and disproportionately holds back all too many people from achieving their dreams and aspirations.

The cabinet, the council’s main decision-making body, will help drive forward the priorities and make sure that our services are meeting our residents’ needs.

The council’s corporate plan shows how the council’s three priorities will be worked towards, and measured, over the next four years.

Partnering with
Good for Ealing

Ealing Council puts residents at the heart of everything that it strives to achieve.

The council’s three priorities are to create good jobs, tackle the climate crisis and fight inequality. Working with the council through the Good for Ealing Inward Investment programme gives the private sector the opportunity to help achieve those priorities for its residents.

Good for Ealing is a platform for all those working in the regeneration and development industries, who share our values, to share ideas, new thinking, good practices and to network and find out more about the work of the council and those already investing and partnering in the borough.

A pledge package enables partners to be involved in a year-long programme of London, national and international events, panels, conferences and B2B communications which showcase the imaginative and innovative schemes and partnership working taking place in the borough.

Above all Good for Ealing puts the case about how and why Ealing is one of the best areas in the UK to invest and do business in – and how your business is part of that story.
