Ealing’s Economy after 6pm

Do you work night shifts or run a business after 6pm? Do you visit your local high street after 6pm? Are you a resident that wants better access services or amenities after 6pm? Let’s talk about the borough’s economy after 6pm.

What is the evening and nighttime economy?

The evening and nighttime economy describes economic activity that happens between 6pm – 6am.

It is sometimes misunderstood as being about alcohol consumption. In fact, it covers a range of industries and activities, from 24-hour health and social care through to supermarkets and local restaurants. These industries support the health, wellbeing and prosperity of residents 24-hours a day.

Why is Ealing’s economy after 6pm strategy needed?

Over a quarter of local spend and 17% of Ealing’s population work in the evening and nighttime economy, including at major 24-hour employers such as Heathrow and Ealing Hospital. It also plays an important role in the social and cultural life of Ealing residents.

We are preparing Ealing’s economy after 6pm strategy to make the borough a more prosperous and inclusive place to live, work, visit and run a business after 6pm. Earlier this year, thousands of local residents and businesses shared their ideas for this strategy which is due to be adopted in Autumn 2024.

How can I get involved?

A draft strategy is now available for further feedback. Your comments will help to shape the final version of the strategy.

Have your say by midnight Thursday 22nd August 2024.
